Domain 01: Payment Foundations · 7 lessons

Version 1.0 | Last reviewed 2026-11-05

After this chapter, the learner can explain what a payment is, how it differs from a transfer and from settlement, and trace a payment from instruction to beneficiary credit.

What You Can Do After This Chapter

Learning objective. Learner explains what a payment is, distinguishes a payment instruction from the movement of funds, and classifies a payment by payer, payee, value, currency, and settlement timing with correct terminology. Learner applies this skill in realistic banking scenarios, with clear examples and correct terminology throughout.

Practical assessment. Learner receives ten short business scenarios, including a 250 dollar supplier payment, a 1,000 euro salary credit, and a 50,000 rupee vendor transfer, and classifies each one by instrument, direction, value, currency, and timing. Learner then writes a one-page note explaining why the instruction and the funds movement are different events, using one scenario as the worked example. Learner submits all work with sources, calculations, and assumptions stated clearly, and reviews the result against the chapter checklist before submission.

Expected deliverables.

Completion criterion. Learner classifies at least nine of ten scenarios correctly and explains the instruction versus funds distinction clearly, using correct terms and a concrete example. Completion is judged on accuracy, completeness, and clear written explanation throughout.
